Jessica Procter crowned Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen

Jessica Procter was crowned Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen 2013, pageant officials announced Sunday.

Procter will represent Alabama at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, scheduled for Aug. 8-19 in Orlando, Fla.

The teen pageant is the younger-sister pageant within the Miss America Organization. Contestants are ages 13-17 years.

"As of September 2012, we have written scholarship checks for over $611,000 to more than 120 different colleges and universities across the country," according to national teen pageant officials. "All of our scholarships are paid directly to the institution attended by our participants and cover tuition, books, and room and board. We make mo individual cash payments, so we know all our scholarships are being used for educational purposes. We believe that education is key to a person’s success and we are proud to be able to assist so many outstanding teens with their college expenses."

Procter entered the pageant as Miss West Central’s Outstanding Teen, according to the state pageant website.

Her talent at the pageant was as a Broadway vocalist.

Procter is a member of the Class of 2014 at Northridge High School and lives in Tuscaloosa, according to her Facebook page.

She is active in the TJ Atchison Spinal Cord Injury Research Program, which describes itself as "dedicated to improving knowledge about spinal cord injury and promotes discoveries of treatments and cure for spinal cord injury."
