It did not take long for Jessica Eye to get her first UFC fight.
The Cleveland native will take on former Strikeforce champ Sarah Kaufman in a bantamweight fight at UFC 166 on Oct. 9 at the Toyota Center in Houston. The main card will air live on pay-per-view and the undercard will air live on FOX Sports 1 and on Facebook.
The UFC confirmed the matchup on Friday night that was first reported by Ariel Helwani on “UFC Tonight.”
Eye just recently signed with the UFC this week after being released from her Bellator contract earlier this month. The 27-year-old is currently on a seven-fight win streak.
The Strong Style Fight Team member is best known for her first round submission win over former Bellator champ Zoila Frausto Gurgel last December in a flyweight fight. Eye’s last fight was in June when she defeated Carina Damm by decision at NAAFS 9.
Kaufmann was scheduled to make her UFC debut next week at UFC FIght Night 27 but was pulled from the card when her opponent had to pull out of the fight due to injury. The British Columbia native has won four of her last five fights with her lone loss coming to UFC champ Ronda Rousey in Strikeforce.
UFC 166 is expected to be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos. Also on the card, Daniel Cormier will take on Roy Nelson and Gilbert Melendez will fight Diego Sanchez.
