Jessica Alba, who lamented that pregnancy ruined her body, plans to wears a girdle from the moment she gives birth to her second child until two to three months after delivery.
“I wear a girdle around my tummy from the moment I give birth until it doesn’t feel loosely-goosey anymore—that takes a good two to three months," Alba, 30, says in the September 2011 issue of Lucky. "It’s spandex with Velcro.”
Yoga, Fruit and Lots of Water
The 5'6" Latina stunner, who says she'll never be as skinny as she was pre-pregnancy, plans to lose her pregnancy weight by working out for at least 45 minutes a day and following a 1,200-calorie-a-day diet.
"Prenatal yoga is really good," says Jessica, who's expecting her second baby with husband Cash Warren. The couple already has a daughter, Honor Marie, 3.
"I have a bad back and bad knees and it really prepares your body. The more limber you are and the stronger you are, the easier your birth. And isn’t that what everybody wants?”
But Alba insists she exercises not just to look good, but also to feel good.
"Working out every day for even just 45 minutes is good for my mental state," she says.
Alba, who's hailed worldwide for her sexy bikini body, admits dieting after she has her second child will be tough.
"I have a hard time with portion control, so I have 1,200-calorie meals delivered. But I also work out, so basically I’m starving—it sucks," she says.
"I drink a lot of water. I like cucumber-strawberry water....[and] watermelon, cherries, strawberries."
45- to 60-Minute Cardio & Weight-Lifting Workouts
Alba says taking time to pamper oneself while pregnant is extremely important.
“Pamper yourself, because once the baby comes you’re crazed for a long time," she says. "So if you can, indulge, whether it’s getting your nails done, or getting a facial, or just spending an extra five minutes to feel pretty in the morning.”
While Jessica insists she's not worried about losing pregnancy weight quickly, it's likely she'll regain her taut pre-baby figure in no time, thanks to her strict dieting and workouts.
Jessica's exercise regimen (when she's not pregnant) typically consists at least 30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical trainer, stationary bike or treadmill four times a week combined with light weight-lifting and yoga.
"I try to work out every day for 45 minutes to an hour," she has said. "I start out on the treadmills or elliptical machine for 10 to 15 minutes to get my heart rate up to 180 beats per minute. Then I do 50 lunges and crunches.
"Next I get back on the machine for another 10 minutes. Then I work on shoulders, biceps and triceps. I do that nonstop for four sets. When I work out, I have energy and feel good about myself."
'It's Hard to Get Motivated'
Still, Alba admits there are days when she really doesn't want to go to the gym.
"Getting dressed and actually doing it is the worst," she says. "It’s hard to get motivated.
"In the gym, I have like five things to distract me: TV, iPod, magazines. Working partners are good, too, so you can chat and not just drown in your own misery. Sorry, does that sound bad? I just hate working out."
