Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel stay sleek with CrossFit and Paleo low carb diet

If your first name is Jessica and you're a smoking hot actress, apparently the name of the fitness game is CrossFit. Add in a low-carb diet, especially a Paleo-style one, and you've got the recipe for a perfect bikini body. Exemplifying the benefits of CrossFit plus a low-carb diet is Jessica Alba, reported Voxxi News on July 9.

And Alba isn't shy about sharing what she sees as the benefits of her dynamic diet and intense workout plan. “I have to enhance what I like about my body and my stomach is good,” Jessica informed GQ.

To make sure others can admire her abs, Alba "wouldn't cover up my stomach. That’s what women do. Enhance what we’ve got."

The CrossFit program that she uses is often paired with a Paleo low carb diet. Her trainer Jennifer Johnson complimented Alba's diet dedication.

"That’s Jessica’s strong point: She’s motivated nutritionally, and she eats a balanced diet of salads and proteins," revealed the trainer. "If you’re eating right, that’s more than half the battle."

But is it healthy to omit grains and dairy as required to follow a Paleo diet? “Most people could probably afford to eat fewer refined grains and carbs,” said Rebecca Solomon, director of clinical nutrition at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, in a July 7 interview with the New York Daily News.

However, she feels that foods excluded from a Paleo diet "are some of the healthiest foods around. Why can’t we have dairy? You could actually lose nutrients eating this way," she warned.

Despite that potential risk, Jessica Biel follows the Paleo diet. She also appreciates her muscles from CrossFit.

"There is so much pressure to look a certain way in this town. But it's nice to have a little meat on you, and I hope I inspire women to appreciate their muscular calves!" Biel told Shape magazine. "I’m comfortable with my body and who I am because I work out a lot!"

Not every health expert is dubious about the benefits of the Paleo diet. Dr. Mehmet Oz recently featured the plan on his talk show and noted that you can lose up to 75 pounds in six months by customizing the diet so it works for you.

One advantage of the diet: It contains a significant percentage of protein. And that's the key to cutting cravings for carbohydrates according to a new study, reported the Winchester Daily Monitor on July 9.

Both Biel and Alba get a boost in staying so slim by choosing the Paleo way. Researchers at the University of Sydney found that by following a low carb diet with sufficient protein, your appetite will be suppressed, making it effortless to eat less.

Commenting on the results of the study, Professor Raubenheimer noted, "We can use this information to help manage and prevent obesity, through ensuring that the diets we eat have a sufficient level of protein to satisfy our appetite." He also disclosed that the percentage of protein in the diet has decreased during the past six decades.
