Jesse James Comics located in Glendale on the northwest corner of 43rd Ave and Peoria at 10620 N 43rd Ave #8 will be celebrating its 4 years in business on Saturday, August 31st with a bang. Not only is this an anniversary celebration, it is also a grand re-opening as the store has expanded into a bigger space. Like past events, this is one that you will not want to miss.
Storeowner Jesse James acknowledges his stores success and his own ever increasing name recognition, but where most people would attribute that to his hard work, Jesse humbly attributes his success more to his customers and the local comic book community. Community is very important to Jesse, and this store expansion shows that.
The new store looks great and while this expansion provides even more room for comic merchandise, it also gives the community a place to hang out. Three large community rooms have been added for TCG games, DnD, doodle night, and whatever else people might need.
UPDATED: The party itself will be an all day affair with the store being open from 9am until midnight with great deals all day long. There will be a 50% off back issues sale, excluding Walking Dead. With Brian Augustyn involved this is sure to be a big deal!
If all of this is still not enough, there will be the debut of Happy Birthday Jack Kirby #96. This is a tribute comic book that Jesse James and Shawn Demumbrum of SpazDog Press, were able to put together in a mere 2 weeks to honor what would have been Jack “The King” Kirby’s 96th birthday. It features original artwork by various artists drawing their versions of Jack Kirby’s creations. Jillian Kirby, granddaughter of Jack, hand picked the cover from. All proceeds of this book will go to the support the Kirby4Heroes campaign to raise funds for the Hero Initiative. The book will be on sale at the store as part of the event as well as online.
