Family comes first with Sandi Jackson.
Sandi Jackson, wife of former Congressman, Jesse Jackson, Jr., resigned from her post as City Councilwoman, on Friday by submitting a letter to the Mayor of Chicago, according to 4 NBC, Jan. 11, 2013.
Sandi Jackson states in a letter to Mayor Rahm Emanuel:
"I am unapologetically a wife and mother, and I cannot deny my commitment to those most important responsibilities. To that end, to much consideration and while dealing with very painful health matters, I have met with my family and determined that my constituents of the 7th Ward, as well as you, Mr. Mayor, and my colleagues in the City Council deserve a partner who can commit all their energies to the business of the people."
Jesse Jackson, Jr., 47, resigned as congressman in November, 2012 because of health conditions. Jackson served in the 2nd Congressional District. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
As for Sandi Jackson, we are not surprised of her resignation, considering her husband was away from his job for 5 months in treatment before he resigned.
Sandi Jackson’s resignation is effective, Jan. 15, 2012. She says she is leaving with a "heavy heart."
We wish the Jackson family better health for 2013, and the days to come.
