It didn't take long though for a little background check on Jesse Helt and it turns out he was wanted in Oregon. According to the Oregonian on Friday, Jesse Helt is making things right and has turned himself in.
After the MTV Video Music Awards everyone was buzzing about Miley Cyrus' date. The good looking man who took the podium to accept Miley's award for "Wrecking Ball" when she won Video of the Year gave a moving speech about homeless youth. He talked about how he knew all about homelessness because he is one of them.
The very next day it was reported that Jesse Helt was in fact homeless, that wasn't a media ploy. He also had a warrant for his arrest in his native Salem, Oregon. Jesse was wanted for a probation violation after convictions for criminal mischief and trespassing in 2010.
On Thursday, Jesse Helt turned himself in to the Polk County Jail. He was able to post $2500 bail and was released later that night. According to Jesse's mother Linda Helt, Miley Cyrus has agreed to help the 22-year old with his legal bills.
