Jersey Shore star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino has gone from filing for unemployment benefits in 2009 to a multi-millionaire in 2010.  According to a new report released today (Monday) by The Hollywood Reporter the breakout MTV reality star is on track to earn $5 million by the end of this year. "He has been able to secure many endorsement deals, business opportunities and additional television offers based on the success of the show," The Situation's manager Mike Petolino said. "Our goal has always been to try to build a brand if the situation presented itself."

The Situation has not only built an impressive brand, but he's practically done it overnight. Remember, Jersey Shore's first season only premiered in December 2009. Since then the show's biggest breakout star has partnered with DILLIGAF to release a new clothing line, has debuted a self-titled rap song, is writing a book, will release an abs workout dvd in time for the holidays, and is also reportedly working on a cologne.

The Situation's success is a far cry from just 10 months ago when the 29 year old reportedly filed for unemployment benefits.  Sorrentino filed for New Jersey unemployment insurance in October 2009 between the time Jersey Shore Season 1 was filmed and when it began airing.  Since then Mike "The Situation" has gone from earning $5,000 an episode to what's been reported as close to ten times that (with bonus incentives) for Jersey Shore Season 3.

While Mike "The Situation" has cashed on his overnight fame more than any other Jersey Shore reality star, the show's casting director tells Examiner.com he's still amazed at the opportunities the show has presented to the entire previously-unknown cast.  "It's unique in that only a year ago they were dreaming a very American dream and now live it!" Doron Ofir says. "As a person involved in their discovery I can't help but feel a sense of awe."

Does Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino have what it takes to ride out his 15 minutes of fame or will his fame soon wash up?
