We know we live in a fascinating society when Snooki from "Jersey Shore" starts so much controversy without even showing up somewhere. For evidence, all we have to do is read about an incident with James Madison University. Snooki is scheduled to appear at the campus on March 3, but trouble is already starting without her even showing up.

Why? It all comes down to Facebook. A page was created to promote the reality star's appearance, but the tone of the comments quickly went from positive to hateful and even potentially racist. Eventually many of the comments were removed and replaced with this message:

“The conversation on the Facebook wall went from beneficial to hostile, and even violent and racist…we simply cannot constantly observe and prohibit offense, obscene uses of the internet which are both misuse of JMU’s internet policy and illegal.”

--

On a completely different note, Snooki has also managed to stir things up for something much more light-hearted: her hair. After taking to a salon on Thursday, she posted a picture on her Twitter account showing both some blonde and blue in her hair.

Are you surprised that Snooki's actions draw so much attention? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more news.
