'Jersey Shore:' Snooki excited after 'American Idol' Ellen DeGeneres shout-out

You know you have made it when Ellen DeGeneres references you -- and the fact that it was during "American Idol" doesn't hurt either. Suffice it to say, "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi was more than pleased to discover she was mentioned during the Fox show's performance special early last week. As a matter of fact, she went on tell MTV News all about it on Friday:

"I didn't watch 'American Idol,' but my mom called me screaming. I was like, 'Why are you screaming?' She's like, 'Ellen DeGeneres just said Snooki.' I was like, 'Oh, that's my girl!'

"How many people watch 'American Idol?' Millions? That's awesome."

For Snooki and "Jersey Shore," it looks like they have quite a bit of "awesome" on the way. The gang is currently set to begin shooting soon in Miami for season two. The only downside? It looks like the self-proclaimed "guidette" will miss out on any further remarks from Ellen or any other "American Idol" judges. (However, it's more than likely that she'll get an interview later with Ellen for publicity.)

Do you think Ellen should have referenced Snooki during "American Idol?" Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more of the latest news.
