New details are emerging surrounding the arrest of Jersey Shore star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. As Examiner.com first reported on Friday, Snooki was arrested on the beach in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. A huge crowd, along with MTV cameras watched the whole thing go down as a clearly intoxicated Snooki was dragged off the beach by police and other Jersey Shore cast mates.
Now, in a statement by Seaside Heights Police Chief Thomas Boyd he confirms the 22 year old reality tv star has been released.

On Friday at approximately 15:23 (3:23 pm) hours, Nicole Polizzi was acting in a disorderly matter while on the beach…
Miss Polizzi was escorted from the beach by patrolmen and placed under arrest for disorderly conduct …near the boardwalk.
She was transported to police headquarters and later released on a summons.”
According to the statement, Snooki did not spend the night in jail. However, having received a summons she will likely have to appear in court to answer the disorderly conduct charges. It is still unclear what exactly lead to Snooki's arrest.
The Jersey Shore cast returned to Seaside Heights over the last few days to begin production on Jersey Shore Season 3. Snooki's arrest came the day after Jersey Shore Season 2 premiered on MTV breaking audience records and becoming the year's most watched cable telecast.
