The Jersey Shore Season 5 premiere ratings rebounded after the previous season's viewership ended down. With 7.58 million viewers tuning in, the MTV reality show easily beat everything else on cable...and the networks.
It's no surprise ratings were up for Thursday's Jersey Shore return, the series has always done extremely with premieres. However, there the Season 5 premiere was the first time in series history that viewership for a premiere was down from the previous season's premiere. The Jersey Shore Season 4 premiere in August 2011 pulled in a premiere record 8.8 million viewers.
Whether Jersey Shore Season 5 can maintain viewership throughout the season may determine the future of MTV's most successful series in the network's 30 year history.
Jersey Shore Season 5 premieres January 5, 2012 on MTV.
