August 17, 2011 - Jersey Shore star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino has been offered a money deal not to wear clothing by Abercrombie & Fitch.
The Chief Executive of the clothing brand himself, Mike Jeffries, told Wall Street Journal reporters that they were concerned by The Situation's like for their clothes as it may be off-putting to high schoolers, who are the main demographic of A&F.
“We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans,” Mr. Jeffries said in a statement.

However, MTV maintains that this recent jab from the clothing firm is no more than a publicity stunt and believe it will only serve the company in selling more clothes thanks to Jersey Shore and The Situation. The television network also believes it will also help Jersey Shore's viewership.
“It’s a clever PR stunt and we’d love to work with them on other ways they can leverage Jersey Shore to reach the largest youth audience on television,” an MTV rep said.

The Situation himself was not very happy with this offer and apparent insult, but he took on to Twitter to rub in a decline in A&F stock after the infamous offer was made, writing "Looks like Abercrombie got themselves into a Situation!" adding a link to an article which showed a 9 percent decline on their stock's worth.
But, adding to the validity of the argument that A&F is just using this stunt to further their sales, it appears as if they are still offering their famous "The Fitchuation" t-shirts on their website...
