Jersey Shore may have 5.5 million fans tuning in week-after-week but apparently not too many of them are from New Jersey. That's the finding of a new poll released today and conducted by Quinnipiac University which found the majority of residents would rather the show go back to Miami....or at least across state lines.
The results of the poll, were released first by People.com and found:
- 51% of New Jersey residents polled had an 'unfavorable' view of the MTV reality show
- 11% of New Jersey residents polled had a 'favorable' view of the show
- 38% of New Jersey residents polled were undecided
- 54% of New Jersey residents polled said the show is 'bad' for their state
- 20% of New Jersey residents polled thought the show is 'good' for their state
A third of the Garden State's residents also agreed with unflattering statements made by their governor, Chris Christie. Governor Christie recently criticized the MTV show and its breakout stars saying they act the way they do because they're from New York. Ironically, Jersey Shore is well received across the river in New York where the show's Season 2 premiere was last month's highest watched tv show in NYC.
