MTV is making its stance clear on "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi following the recent announcement of criminal charges back in 2004: they stand behind her all of the way.
In a new statement to E! Online, a spokesperson for the "music" network had this to say regarding the matter: "Snooki was 16 when she was charged...She fulfilled her community service and her record was ultimately cleared."
The incident in question occurred after 18-year old Michael Truncali, then a friend of Snooki, died after driving drunk following a party at the home of the reality star (who was 16 years old at the time). The parents of Truncali have spoken out, and while they do not wish anything bad on Snooki they do believe that shows such as "Jersey Shore" should not promote drinking and violence in any positive light.
Do you think that MTV is doing the right thing by standing behind Snooki, or do you think their decision to keep her around for season two (which begins filming within the coming weeks) is based strictly on ratings?
