'Jersey Shore': Joy Behar too busy making ravioli to watch

Jersey Shore hit The View "Hot Topics" coffee table Wednesday morning and The View co-host Joy Behar laid into Jersey Shore creators for portraying Italians in a bad light.

After Whoopi Goldberg introduced the 'Jersery Shore' Hot Topic, Joy Behar fumed sarcastically: "I haven't seen it.  I was too busy stomping grapes and making ravioli."

Joy Behar's joke launched the fiery-haired co-host into a comparative analysis of why some stereotyping of Italians is okay, but 'Jersey Shore' style stereotyping is totally out of line:

"It didn't bother me--The Sopranos and 'The Godfather', because they're high art," said Joy Behar.  "This [Jersey Shore] is just a low-life silly, stupid show.  I don't even care about it except it makes people think that's the way we are."

Joy Behar suggested that those who were truly interested in finding out what Italians are all about should turn off 'Jersey Shore' and hope a plane to Rome.

Nice work Joy.  Now you've just stereotyped yourself as an out-of-touch rich person who thinks the Jersey Shore viewing audience has the collective mental capacity even figure out how to get a ticket to Rome let alone pay for it.

She did not stereotype herself. You evidently missed the whole point of what she said. She's not a haughty rich woman, but an educated Italian, like myself, who perceives this show as one that will only further disseminate more narrow-minded and innaccurate stereoptypes about Italians to society at large.

So what qualifies you to write about this topic? Are you Italian or are you an apologist for racist stereotype TV? If you don't have olive skin or a voweled surname, then it is you who are out of touch.

I can tell you I am not Italian, and I do not watch Jersey Shore. I saw them on Ellen, and they are so STUPID and arrogant, I wouldn't even begin to think about watching the show. However, seeing the ultra-liberal Behar squirming whilst sitting next to these idiots was feakin' hilarious!! It was the pot with the kettle right next to it, and she is such an idiot, it was fun!
