The cast of indie comedy “The Jersey Devil” celebrated the film’s wrap at Midtown hotspot Sankeys (29 W. 36th St.) on Saturday night. In the film, Lucifer’s reign in hell is ending, and a new devil wants to change the underworld’s image and location. He wants hell to be edgy and cool, and after an extensive search, he settles on New Jersey. Lucifer repeatedly tries to stop his replacement from succeeding, and eventually turns to a higher power for help.
Award-winning actor Keith Collins (“The Meat Puppet,” “Stuck in the Middle”) plays the new devil, James Burnett, and award-winning actor and producer Jack Mulcahy (“The Brothers McMullen,” “Porky’s”) plays Lucifer. The film also stars Chris Mulkey, David Chokachi, Edvin Ortega, Penelope Lagos, and others. “The Jersey Devil” was directed by two-time New York Emmy winner Joseph Pepitone (“Stuck in the Middle”) of Diamond Jesus Productions.
Pepitone (who is from Brooklyn but grew up in Jersey) describes the film as a “straight riotous comedy,” that highlights some of Jersey City’s landmarks. The crew filmed at the Jersey City Armory, City Hall, and other locations with the support of the Mayor Steven Fulop’s Office and FilmJC. Pepitone is looking for distribution, and hopes the film will appear on cable, DVD, and Blu-ray, as well as showing in theaters. Looking forward to attending the premiere of “The Jersey Devil” Fall 2014!!
