COLONIE, NY -- Brace yourself, you're probably not going to believe this announcement.
New York's Capital Region has another Japanese steak-and-sushi restaurant.
The rapidly-expanding genre -- we'd count 'em up, but can't find our abacus -- making inroads into the stranglehold Italian restaurants have had in ethnic dining around here for generations has been swelled by the opening of Samurai at 158 Wolf Road.
That's in the former Burger King site that passersby have been watching undergo renovations to handle eight teppanyaki tables along with other seating.
As I noted in a posting about this project back in June, owner Jerry Zheng also operates Sakura in Clifton Park and China King in Niskayuna, and now has venues in three different counties.
Samurai's hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Phone: 813-9555.
