WBC world welterweight champion “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather tweeted Monday night that the New York Knicks’ Asian-American point guard, Jeremy Lin, has created such worldwide hoopla simply because of his race.
"Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise," tweeted Mayweather, 35, who has captured nine world titles in five different weight classes.
The convicted spousal abuser continued his disgusting, and unfounded, online racist rant.
"Its OK for ESPN to give their opinion but I say something and everyone questions Floyd Mayweather,” tweeted Mayweather, who will justifiably be imprisoned for 87 days starting on June 1. “I'm speaking my mind on behalf of other NBA players. They are programmed to be politically correct and will be penalized if they speak up. Other countries get to support/cheer their athletes and everything is fine. As soon as I support Black American athletes, I get criticized."
The 23-year-old Lin, who is the first American born player of Taiwanese or Chinese descent to perform in the NBA, has dominated the hardwood the last five games since taking over as the floor general for the Knicks.
The undrafted graduate of Harvard University, a two-time All-Ivy League First Team selection in 2009 and 2010, is the only ballplayer in league history to score at least 20 points and dish a minimum of seven assists in the first four starts of his career.
Lin, who is averaging 26.8 points and eight assists, has helped the Knicks win five consecutive games.
This is not the only time that the violent, pompous and morally reprehensible Mayweather (41-0, 25 KOs) has proved himself to be a pathetic bigot.
The National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) responded in September 2010 to racist and homophobic comments spewed by Mayweather against WBO world welterweight king Manny "Pac-Man" Pacquiao in a self-made Internet video.
"Once I stomp that midget (Pacquiao), I'll take that motherfu@k@r make me some sushi roll and cook me some rice,” spewed Mayweather, named Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year in 1998 and 2007. "We're going to cook that motherfu@k@r with some cats and dogs...Rice with a little bit of cat, rice with a little bit of barbecued dog."
Speculation had run rampant that Mayweather and Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) would finally clash on Cinco de Mayo.
Sadly for boxing fans, despite an estimated purse that could have paid both boxers in excess of $50 million apiece, the uncompromising and insatiable camps for both Pacquiao and Mayweather prevented the much-anticipated bout from materializing.
Therefore, instead of exhibiting testicular fortitude and throwing fists with Pacquiao, “Pretty Boy” announced earlier this month that he will gain weight to battle Puerto Rican icon and WBA world light-welterweight titleholder Miguel Cotto on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Roger “Pit” Perron is a respected and venerable boxing trainer from Brockton (Mass.) who now works with Mike and Rich Cappiello at their gym, Cappiello Brothers Boxing and Training.
Perron is confident that Cotto is far from being a shopworn pugilist and he believes the four-time world champion in three weight divisions can give Mayweather a battle.
“Cotto isn’t done yet,” said Perron, 75, who worked with Marvelous Marvin Hagler. “Against Floyd, tough one to pick, but I'm going with Floyd. He always finds a way to negate the opponent's strengths. Floyd by decision.”
In an ideal world, Cotto (37-2, 30 KOs) will somehow manage to physically overwhelm Mayweather and give the 1996 bronze medalist the first defeat of his professional career.
Subsequently, approximately four weeks after the “Pretty Boy” is battered and bloodied, Mayweather will be removed from society and placed behind bars with a tarnished record.
Floyd Mayweather is a legitimate villain and he deserves to be “criticized,” ostracized and incarcerated.
In stark contrast to Mayweather, Jeremy Lin is a hero and what is right with the world of sports.
