Jermaine Jackson on claims of profiting from MJ's passing: 'That is the most ridiculous thing ever'

AP

An insulted Jermaine Jackson is speaking out on claims that he has profited or is somehow furthering his career from the passing of his brother, Michael Jackson.

Jermaine says of such claims: 'That is the most ridiculous thing ever. It is not about cashing in on what has happened. It is responsibility on all of our parts as brothers and sisters to keep his legacy alive. I would love to see something done in my brother’s honor every year, because he was that well-respected around the globe. So for the media to say this is absurd. It is stupid. It is crazy.'

What do you think? Are the claims outlandish?

Attention Michael Jackson supporters: There is a wonderful new project in the form of a portrait that millions of fans worldwide can take part in. A Portrait of Michael Jackson created from millions of hand-drawn dots will invite millions of fans worldwide to become part of Jackson's legacy by getting a free dot in the portrait in their name. A dot is not drawn on the canvas until someone signs up for it; at least one million fans (dots) are needed to complete the image of the King of Pop, with room in the portrait for many more millions to participate. The organizers of this tribute have the support of Ken Kragen, who was responsible for "We Are the World," The Robson Family (Joy, Wade and Chantal), and Don Wilson, the creator / director / producer of the "Man in the Mirror" video. Proceeds will be donated to several charities that were dear to Michael, including The Make A Wish Foundation. Every single hand-drawn dot David places on his canvas represents a real person. People have joined David's projects from over 150 countries. Every Michael Jackson fan will be able to get a free hand-drawn dot added to the portrait in their name. Thus far people representing over 100 countries have signed up to take part in this project. The Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait is a partner of The Michael Jackson Fan Club (http://www.MJfanclub.net), the largest Michael Jackson fan club in the world, which was supported by Jackson himself.

You can now sign up at SupportJacksonPortrait.com for your dot. The portrait starts on August 28thA dedicated website will be created so people can sign up for their free dot. People will be able to attach a message to their dot if they choose. Every time someone signs up, a dot will be hand drawn in the work of art in their name. People will be able to go online to see the portrait as it evolves toward completion and read some of the messages.

Please sign up at SupportJacksonPortrait.com and be a part of this tribute to the King of Pop.

I think Jermaine is lying through his teeth! Wait until the investigators reveal the whole truth about MJ's death... everyone will be shocked!

I never heard from Jermaine until after MJ passed and now he is everywhere! It appears that he does not always get along with all of his brothers.

  • Carol 2 years ago

I think his entire family has profited off Michael when he was alive, so why should now be any different? As a matter of fact, it's worse now! They (with the exception of Janet) should be ashamed!!!!! RIP, MJ. You are truly missed by your true fans.

well for him to all of a sudden have a bunch of paying jobs that he didnt have before June 25, 2009,... I would say that for a man that used to be bankrupt he is PROFITING GREATLY from Michael's demise. Yeah he wants to honor his brother, as well as he should, but getting paid for a song u sang at your brothers memorial is ridiculous. I guess now Jermaine's version of Michael's 'Smile" that he sang at the LA memorial is trying to be put on iTunes for sale. And jermaine wouldnt somehow profit from that? We dont see Marlon or Randy (who can actually write and produce music unlike Jermaine!) going out to EVERY event like JJ and LAtoya, or even JOE! Im sure they miss Michael, but they LOVE the limelight now. But people are laughing at them while they think they're doing something great, and when time passes, they'll see all that everyone cared for was Michael. Not them.
I call BULLSHIT on his reponse. Grade A bull.

His family must have loved him because when the world turned their backs on him on the 2003 trial they were all their supporting him including Joe. Everyone needs to pray for their whole family and hope that they can heal from it.

It's not the media painting that picture of you, Jermaine....it's the public....go away

  • Susan 2 years ago

Why all of a sudden Jermaine loves his brother now when in February he and his father Joe sued Michael in court to try to stop his London tour? Why did you do that to your own brother? That's not love, that's called greed Jermaine. You are your father's son.

  • terry 2 years ago

PROFIT is Jermajesty's middle name---or should I say 'profit off the king'!! Jermaine is disgusting and most cerainly trying to get as much out of MJ's death as he can---just like the rest of the clan. A new Jackson 5 album due out in Nov.?? Sounds like profiteering to me!!!
