Former Gonzaga basketball player Jeremy Pargo is now making his mark in the NBA. Pargo is playing point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies now, and in the past week has played a lot of minutes for the team. After playing overseas for a year, Pargo was picked up by Memphis during the NBA offseason. Now he is second on the depth chart behind Mike Conley at the point guard position and has earned more minutes with success on the court.
Through his first four NBA games, Pargo is averaging 9.5 points, 4 assists, 2.3 rebounds and a steal per game. He is getting just over 25 minutes a game and is really making the most of his opportunity. Against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Dec. 28, Pargo finished with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. He had a good game against the Houston Rockets on Dec. 30 as well, scoring 14 points and dishing out 5 assists.
With an injury to Conley, Pargo has been getting more minutes than expected and he has actually started the last two games for the Grizzlies. That's a big jump from not even playing in the NBA last year and it really shows that Pargo has a place in the league if he can remain consistent on the court. The next game for the Grizzlies is on Tuesday night (Jan. 3) against the Sacramento Kings and those Spokane NBA fans with the League Pass can view it beginning at 5 p.m. PT. The Grizzlies also play on Wednesday night (Jan. 4) against the Minnesota Timberwolves at 5 p.m. PT.
