Jeremy Meeks' mug shot goes viral: Good-looking suspect is a Stockton-area felon

Jeremy Meeks: Felon whose mug shot is a hit on social media

Jeremy Meeks found fame on social media this week for a very strange reason. His photo has gone viral because of his good looks. While that may not be strange, this part of the story is. The photo of Meeks that is being swooned over is actually his mug shot that was taken by law enforcement officials. It’s the photo that was taken and posted after the 30-year-old felon was arrested on Wednesday, according to USA Today on Thursday.

Meeks was arrested on felony weapons charges during a sweep in the Weston Ranch part of Stockton, Washington on Wednesday. As of this week, Meeks is apparently the most popular suspect to ever be posted on the Stockton Police Department’s Facebook page. As of Thursday night, after no more than a day of having his mug shot posted on the page, Meeks’ photo received more than 32,000 likes and more than 10,000 comments.

Most of the comments have to do with people stating that he think he is a very good-looking man. The comments seem to think the suspect is blessed with high cheekbones, a chiseled face, and striking blue eyes, as Meeks is aptly described by Yahoo! News. Those who look closer will see a teardrop tattoo near the left eye – which could mean gang affiliation, of course.

Some of the comments also suggest that he would do much better as a model instead of allegedly working crime – in which he is getting caught. Perhaps, when Meeks hears about his sudden fame, he’ll rethink his purpose in life when and if he is set free. He is being held in the San Joaquin County Jail on $900,000 bail.

Meek’s arrest is all part of the Stockton Police Department’s multi-agency Operation Ceasefire enforcement mission. The aim is to reduce crime in the City of Stockton. The success of the operation is credited to a variety of agencies including the Stockton Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression United, the County Wide Gang Task Force, and authorities from agencies in neighboring areas of Stockton. Since Meeks has gone viral, he claims he's not all that bad, yet TMZ has found a lengthy rap sheet on him and claims he has gang ties.
