Jenny Dell has been reassigned from her duties as a sideline reporter for the Boston Red Sox. Dell has become quite popular over the years, but the rumor is that she was moved out of the position due to her current relationship with third baseman Will Middlebrooks. According to a report from Thursday (Jan. 30), the couple revealed that they were dating on New Year's Eve. The move has come swiftly after that to take her away from the Red Sox.
This is an interesting move by NESN, because Dell has become extremely recognizable on the sidelines. She even has her own bobblehead, showing just how recognizable she has become to the fans. While her network didn't specifically say that her relationship was the reason she was moved out of the position, they did release a statement. It reads in part, "NESN has an active search for a Red Sox sideline reporter. Jenny Dell, a multi-talented on-air personality, is anchoring ‘NESN Sports Today’ and handling other assignments for NESN."
It has been pointed out that the last person who held Dell's role is Heidi Watney, who is now one of the on-air personalities for MLB Network. She can be seen almost every morning as a fact provider for the two hosts of "Hot Stove." Maybe Dell could wind up working for the network as well if she doesn't enjoy her new responsibilities working for "NESN Sports Today." It will be interesting to hear what she has to say about being reassigned as well.
