Tuesday, the trial for the “hiccup girl” began with jury selection in Pinellas County, Florida; Jennifer Mee was charged in a 2010 murder that occurred during a robbery. As a teenager, Mee appeared on numerous TV shows and became known as the hiccup girl because she had uncontrollable hiccups and hiccupped more than 50 times per minute.
Jennifer Mee, 22, was charged (along with two others) with first-degree murder for the murder of Shannon Griffin who was 22 years old at the time and was working for Walmart.
Tuesday, prosecutors and attorneys selected the jury and after they were chosen Judge Nancy Moate Ley told them that they expected the trial to wrap up by the end of this week, according to People.
This was the first arrest for Jennifer Mee. America watched her hiccup challenge and what she went through in an attempt to get rid of them. After trying home remedies, seeing various medical specialists, including a hypnotist and an acupuncturist…the hiccups stopped on their own.
Prosecutors said that Mee led Griffin to a home in St. Petersburg, FL and told him they were buying marijuana, but instead Mee's friends robbed him at gunpoint. A struggle broke out and Griffen was killed.
