Jennifer Lopez signed a contract on Aug. 30 to host nest season's “American Idol” for 17.5 million, according to Mail Online. The pop singer, 44, must be happy with that amount since Britney Spears only received 15 million for the “X Factor”.
“It's a major coup for her to land a huge payday like that and I believe she is thrilled with that number,” a source told Mail Online.
Lopez was paid a reported 12 million for her first season in 2011 on the massively popular reality show and 15 million her second. It was speculated last year that Lopez was asking for a 2 million raise for her third season, the show refused, and she parted ways. Steven Tyler also left but his reasons are unclear.
Keith Urban will return with Lopez to “American Idol” but no information has leaked as to who the third judge will be. “They still have to wait to lock down the third judge and then the announcement will be made,” a source confessed to Hollywood Life. “They have to start taping in the next two weeks so it’s imminent.”
Auditions for the show will be in the fall and the new season will premiere in Jan. 2014.
