Jennifer Lawrence wins Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2013 Oscars

Jennifer Lawrence took home her first Oscar at the 2013 Academy Awards Sunday night (Feb. 24), beating out an impressive cast of fellow nominees.

Lawrence won for her performance as Tiffany -- a troubled young widow who begins a complex relationship with a man recently released from a psychiatric facility -- in "Silver Linings Playbook." She was previously nominated for her role in "Winter's Bone" in 2010.

The actress tripped and fell on her way up the stairs to the podium, but she recovered and quipped, "You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell, and that's really embarrassing, but thank you."

She gave in to the excitement of the moment. "This is nuts!" She exclaimed.

Lawrence thanked her team and the other women in all categories, as well as her cast and family. She kept it brief, breathlessly exclaiming, "Thanks!"
