Lawrence, who is only 22-years-old, won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance as a bipolar dance enthusiast who charms Bradley Cooper out of his obsession with his ex-wife in "Silver Linings Playbook". By the time Lawrence finally reached the microphone, the audience was on their feet giving her a standing ovation.
"You guys are just standing because you feel bad that I fell, and that's really embarrassing," said Lawrence sheepishly as she clutched her Academy Award.
Lawrence's trophy was the only big win for "Silver Linings Playbook" Sunday night, and the Awards were widely scattered with no film showing real dominance. "Argo" took home the Award for Best Picture. The little known Ang Lee picture "Life of Pi" took home the most Awards of the night, with a meager four. Lee took home the Best Director Oscar. "Pi" also won for Best Score, Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects.
