Imagine being a young actress, talented and hopeful that you'll succeed in a tough profession. And then comes the news: You may be skilled professionally - but on a personal level, you're "fat" and need to lose weight or you could destroy your career. That's precisely the situation faced by Jennifer Lawrence, reported Hollywood.com on October 2.
Recalling the situation, Jennifer now says, "I was young. It was just the kind of s**t that actresses have to go through. Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn't lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet," reported the Mirror on October 2.
And although it hurt, Jennifer has learned from that experience. She now disdains the concept of dieting.
"They thought that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn't still hurt me. That somehow, after I won an Oscar, I'm above it all. 'You really still care about that?' Yeah. I was a little girl. I was hurt," she added. "It doesn't matter what accolades you get. I know it'll never happen to me again. If anybody even tries to whisper the word 'diet,' I'm like, 'You can go ... yourself,'" she declared, according to the Los Angeles Times on October 2.
And for those wondering just what she does eat that's not so diet-friendly, Jennifer freely admitted her weakness. When she's on the set of "The Hunger Games,” she snacks on chips.
"When I ask her what she most likes about her life, she doesn't miss a beat," says Tom Shone of Harper's Bazaar. "'The money,' she says. As if proof of her refusal to conform to Hollywood norms, she cheerfully lambasts starvation diets and says that before each take on a film, she is most likely found eating chips."
