At only 23, Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most talented sought after actresses in Hollywood. Even after her Oscar nominated performance in the critically acclaimed film ‘Winters Bone’ and Oscar winning performance in last years ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, in addition to her 'Hunger Games’ success, Lawrence is still hurt about being called fat early in her career.
As the cover model for the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar U.K., actress Jennifer Lawrence opens up about what happened to her when she was just starting out. “I was young. It was just the kind of s—t that actresses have to go through,” Jennifer recalls. “Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked and told me to use them as motivation for my diet.”
Jennifer Lawrence still cringes at the memory of that experience that she was reminded of recently saying, “They thought that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn’t still hurt me. That somehow, after I won an Oscar, I’m above it all. I was a little girl. I was hurt. It doesn’t matter accolades you get. I know it’ll never happen to me again. If anybody even tried to whisper the word ‘diet’, I’m like, ‘You can go f—k yourself.”
Lawrence isn’t afraid to have an honest conversation about women and body image in Hollywood. Last year she told Elle magazine, “I’m considered a fat actress. I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach.” You can read more from this “never going to starve for a part” Jennifer Lawrence interview here.
Regardless of what anyone has to say about her body, Jennifer Lawrence will never let that get in the way of her love for craft service on set. “My bodyguard Gilbert, right before they call ‘action’, I’m like, ‘If there aren’t Cheez-Its here by the time they call cut, just go home.’ And he’ll start running,” she jokes. “It cracks me up how seriously he takes it. It’s not my performance that is motivating me. I want to get the on-set catering.” Jennifer Lawrence can be seen in “The Hunger Games; Catching Fire” on November 22nd.
