When Jennifer Lawrence hosts 'SNL' in the future, don't be surprised if she talks trash about her fellow Oscar nominees. That's what the award-nominated actress did on "Saturday Night Live" during her recent hosting gig, in a playful manner, of course.
Lawrence, who won a Golden Globe for "Silver Linings Playbook" just last week, didn't pull any punches during her opening monologue. The TV Guide website reported on Jan. 20 that during the 3 minute opening, Lawrence aimed her Katniss arrow straight for her Oscars competitors. That included fellow Globe winner, Jessica Chastain, the star of "Zero Dark Thirty." Lawrence quipped about her saying "Look who it is, Jessica Chastian. More like Jessica Chast-ain't winnin' no Oscar on my watch!" There was also the shot taken at Tommy Lee Jones, played with the perfect grumpy look by "SNL" star Bill Hader.
The show was not without its "Hunger Games" spoof either. Lawrence mocked herself in the Katniss role, fielding questions about her relationship with Peeta, and whether or not she used "performance-reducing drugs." Eat your heart out Lance Armstrong!
The latest episode of "Saturday Night Live" hosted by Jennifer Lawrence seems to be drawing its share of praise from many critics, saying Lawrence showed off her ability to be witty and funny on a live TV gig. They've also noted that she may need to bring that wit and humor to the Oscars, should she win. If not, her competitors may have a thing or two to say to her.
"Saturday Night Live" airs Saturday nights in Roanoke on NBC affiliate station WSLS 10 via Cox Cable. You can view Jennifer Lawrence's opening monologue, here at Hulu.com.
