Jennifer Lawrence falls down at Oscars after winning Best Actress gold (Video)

Jennifer Lawrence grabbed the Oscar for Best Actress at the 2013 Academy Awards on Feb. 24. Unfortunately, the actress' shoes did not grab the surface of the award stage stairs quite as well, and Lawrence ended up falling down as she went to accept the Oscar and give her acceptance speech. The fall was particular nasty looking as it sent Jennifer stumbling forward across a portion of the stairs as she attempted to break her downward trajectory with her arms. MTV's coverage of the accident shows the star quickly recover and make her way to the mic, but her shakiness while speaking was undoubtedly more than the excited nerves of reaching such a major career milestone at the age of 22.

The 'Silver Linings Playbook' and 'Hunger Games' star has had a year of award show wins, but it seems each show has carried with it a bit of a problem for the actress. When she picked up the Golden Globe for 'Silver Linings,' Jennifer Lawrence was suffering from the flu while her win at the Screen Actor's Guild awards featured another gaffe as she walked on stage. The actress was wearing a Dior gown that featured mesh panels layered with fabric panels, and when the fabric separated as she held her dress up to climb the stairs, it looked like her dress was falling apart at the seams. It took Dior issuing a statement relating this design feature for the media to quit referring to the flash of upper leg as a "wardrobe malfunction."

One can't help but wonder if this incident wasn't playing in Lawrence's mind as she walked to the stage and held up the train of tonight's Dior gown. An overabundance of caution can lead to a trip almost as easily as a lack of care - particularly when a person is already as anxious and excited as Jennifer surely was this evening. Despite her embarrassing moment, J. Law recovered well and went on to make a speech where she poked fun of herself by stating the following after receiving a standing ovation, "You all standing up makes me feel bad that I fell, and that's really embarrassing, but thank you."

Jennifer surely has a long, successful career in moves ahead of her and, hopefully, future award seasons will see the actress enjoying major wins without major gaffes occurring in tandem.
