On Jan. 31, Jennifer Lawrence from “The Hunger Games” and “Silver Linings Playbook” downed two shots of tequila right before talking to Jimmy Kimmel about the 2013 Oscars and her role in “Silver Linings Playbook,” which is nominated for Best Picture. She was quite under the weather and even went for a chest x-ray before her appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday. To make it through her interview, Lawrence admitted to downing two tequila shots and one beer right before hitting the stage. “I’m drunk!” she jokingly declared to Jimmy.
“You’ve had an incredible year, but this month has been unbelievable with the Golden Globe win,” Kimmel said. Lawrence is up for a Best Actress Oscar in 2013 for her role in “Silver Linings Playbook.” She’s competing against Jessica Chastain for “Zero Dark Thirty,” Emmanuelle Riva for “Amour,” Quvenzhane Wallis for “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” and Naomi Watts for “The Impossible.” “Silver Linings Playbook” is also nominated for Best Picture.
Jennifer Lawrence said that taking her parents to the Oscars is a “given.” She added that getting extra tickets was no problem and joked, “My dad and I turn into compulsive rednecks on camera and my mom turns into a weeping willow.” She told Jimmy Kimmel that she doesn’t want to prepare an acceptance speech because “it feels so cocky.” She then quipped, “I go into everything thinking I’m a loser.”
Lawrence has been nominated twice for an Oscar. In addition to “Silver Linings Playbook,” she also was nominated in 2011 for her role in “Winter’s Bone.” It’s been quite a ride in 2012 and 2013. Jennifer has already won a Critics Choice Award, a Golden Globe, plus SAG and People’s Choice Awards for her work in “Silver Linings Playbook” and “The Hunger Games.” However, she still gets star-struck at the awards shows, like she did around Adele at the Golden Globes.
