Jennifer Harman is spreading her love for charity poker events to the Grand Sierra this year. Her 2012 Charity Knockout Poker Tournament was held in November at the Atlantis Casino Resort and previously the event has been held at the Peppermill. The Grand Sierra has an excellent history of quality, well-run tournaments like their seasonal Pot of Gold events.
This year, instead of a single charity, the event will have 14 teams, each headed by players like Marsha Waggoner, Jamie Gold and Chip Jett. Each leader will be playing for a specific charity, such as the Nevada Diabetes Association, and Jennifer’s charity choice, the Nevada SPCA, a nonprofit organization, which operates a no-kill animal sanctuary, promotes humane education, makes referrals for lower-cost spay/neuter and vaccination services, and challenges people to be the best possible guardians for the companion animals in their care.
The event is a Texas Hold’em poker tournament with 100 percent of the prizes donated, and 100 percent of the player proceeds donated back to all participating charities. Registration can be done online by simply going to Charity Knockout and choosing your favorite star or favorite charity, and using the Paypal button to post your $250 entry fee.
