In what has been called the most controversial season yet on "Dancing with the Stars," 70 million viewers have been tuning in to see who would win the Mirror Ball after actress Brandy was eliminated and teen mom Bristol Palin headed to the Finals. The "Dancing with the Stars" Finals were aired over two nights, and found Palin turning in some of her best scores of the season. At the end of the night on November 22, there was only a 5% difference between Jennifer Grey's score and Palin's, according to host Tom Bergeron.
Dancing with the Stars Season 11 - Finals Performers:
The 3 "Dancing with the Stars" performers remaining for Season 11 Week 10 were as follows:
Jennifer Grey - Actress ("Dirty Dancing")
Kyle Massey - Disney Actor
Bristol Palin - Christian teen activist, daughter of Sarah Palin
The November 23 Finals program began with a dance extravaganza number which brought back all the Season 11 contestants except for Michael Bolten and Audrina Patridge. Then the three remaining contestants had the opportunity to show what the past 14 weeks had taught them with their final two dances out of four they prepared for the finals.
Bristol Palin was happy with her scores for her first dance, last night's redemption dance, noting "We got three 9s, so we are keeping up with the pack." With the slightly lower score for her free style, she philosophically said, "I had fun, regardless."
Bristol Palin - Rock Tango
For Part 2 of the "Dancing with the Stars" Finals, Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas wanted to do a fun dance so they chose their Rock Tango from Week 6, and once again made the decision to break hold for Palin's air guitar.
Bruno Tonioli assured the young dancer, "You have earned your place in the finals" Carrie Ann Inaba said the Tango showcased Palin's strengths. Len Goodman commented that he thought Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin were two sides of the coin, with Massey having the "wow" and Palin having the "how."
Bristol Palin - Instant Cha Cha
All three finalists participated in an Instant Cha Cha, finding out their song 1/2 hour before performing the dance. Palin danced with Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey where all three could be compared together and proved she had earned the right to be there, scoring a 27 to Jennifer and Kyle's 28s.
Jennifer Grey Wins "Dancing with the Stars"
However, when the votes were tallied, the young teen mom from Alaska came in third place, Kyle Massey took 2nd place, and Jennifer Grey won "Dancing with the Stars," indisputably proving that "Nobody puts Baby in a corner."
Bristol Palin remarked, "I was blessed to be here and am thankful for the whole experience."
"Dancing with the Stars" was seen in Nashville on WKRN Channel 2.
