Jennifer Grey was performing her freestyle on Dancing with the Stars tonight with plenty of passion and energy to impress the judges as well as the audience. While she scored perfectly, plenty of folks are puzzled about the watermelon prop at the beginning of the dance.
According to Twitter.com and the fans of the performer, this dance is set from one of the scenes in Dirty Dancing that is the beginning of meeting Patrick Swazye's character:
It's from the scene in "Dirty Dancing" when Jennifer's character "Baby" goes to a party for the staff at the resort where she's vacationing with her family. She carries a watermelon to the party. Also, the song she danced to in the clip is the song playing when she entered the party and first met Patrick Swayze's character "Johnny."
While Jennifer has been using her past to advance her career on the show (and there is nothing wrong with it) most people are finding the Jennifer Grey watermelon scene to be a bit odd, unless you have watched the movie.
