Do you spend most of your time feeling disorganized and overwhelmed? Moms have a lot of their plates today as they struggle to successfully run a very busy household without losing their minds! Jennifer Ford-Berry, a professional organizer and author of a best selling book, “Organize Now: A Week by Week Guide to Simplify Your Space and Your Life”“ talked to me about her career and her book, and how it can help anyone to get organized.
Organized Families: How long have you been a professional organizer?
Ford-Berry: 8 years
Organized Families: Why do you think organizing services and education is needed so much more today?
Ford-Berry: Now more than ever people are realizing the importance of simplifying their life. I think a lot of this can be contributed to the need for many families to cut costs. Simplifying does in fact save money!
Organized Families: As a mom and busy business owner, what is your secret for keeping a balanced life?
Ford-Berry: My day planner! I firmly believe in using a day planner to schedule your time and make the most of it. This is crucial for meeting goals, as well as, deadlines. I use it to schedule my day, my kids' activities, my writing, working with clients and finishing small steps toward my big goals. Being organized also really helps because I can find things when I need them.
Organized Families: Your book is titled “Organize Now: A Week by Week Guide to Simplify Your Space and Your Life” Tell me about it.
Ford-Berry: I was tired of coming across "novel" type books that claimed to help readers get organized. People hire me to help them get their life organized because they want someone to tell them how to get it done in the easiest, most straight forward way. They are overwhelmed by the clutter so they really don't have the time (or the motivation) to read long winded book on how to get rid of it. I wrote this book so that ANYONE can get their life organized one step at a time.

This book offers practical, action-oriented advice that teaches you how to organize any part of your life in less than one week. Long-term goals help keep the clutter away for the months and years to follow so you can maintain the order you create. You’ll find help with everything from time management and mental clutter to paperwork, pets, purses, toys, rooms and life events such as moving, pregnancy and celebrating the holidays.
Organized Families: With a recent busy book tour, do you still find time to work with clients?
Ford-Berry: Yes, I do still work with clients when time allows because I LOVE it and it gives me inspiration for the books. Each person has their own set of struggles when it comes to organizing. I love helping all sorts of people overcome their obstacles.
