Jennifer Carr was crowned Miss Capital City, pageant officials announced Feb. 17 on the competition’s Facebook page.
The win qualifies Carr as a contestant in the Miss Illinois Pageant. The winner of the state pageant will represent Illinois at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.
Carr has had several years of pageant experience.
"I have been competing in the Miss America/Miss Illinois Organization for almost five years now. (No, we are not all 'Toddlers and Tiaras')." she wrote on her blog when she was Miss Windy City 2012. "My experience with pageants all started in my hometown with the Miss Chatham Sweetcorn Pageant."
"The first year I competed in the Miss Illinois Organization I was 19 years old and 'green'," she wrote. "I competed in a couple local pageants, but unfortunately I did not win a local title and did not attend Miss Illinois."
She has competed in three Miss Illinois pageants.
Her pageant platform is "Save Ur Breath - Lung Cancer Prevention."
