Friday, a trial date was set for former tennis star Jennifer Capriati; Capriati was arrested on battery and stalking charges for punching her ex-boyfriend in February. Jennifer Capriati was not present in court, but the trial date was set for December 17.
Jennifer Capriati is accused of stalking her ex-boyfriend to a health club in North Palm Beach on February 14 and then punched him four times in the chest. Capriati’s lawyer said that if this case goes to trial he expected that it would take about 3-4 days.
Jennifer Capriati’s lawyer, Richard Lubin refused to comment about the case or pending charges on Friday, but in May he was quoted saying that the charges were false. Jennifer Capriati has tweeted that the case is "absurd" and that she is "outraged by the media, by my ex, the false accusations, not being able to say the truth, Lyme disease, my injuries," according to WPEC TV.
Jennifer Capriati’s ex-boyfriend, Ivan Dwight Brannan, 28, filed six incidents with the police about her between May 2012 and February of this year. He also told police that he had received 283 text messages from her between December 25 and January 8 and found the messages to be harassing.
