Jennifer Aniston is taking heat for using the word "retard" during her Thursday morning interview on Live with Regis and Kelly.

Aniston appeared on the gero-friendly morning chat fest to promote her new in-vitro fertilization comedy 'The Switch,' opening Friday.

Regis Philbin jokingly accused Jennifer Aniston of "playing dress up" for a recent photo shoot with 'Vanity Fair' in which she emulates Barbra Streisand.

"Yes, I play dress up!" chirped Aniston cheerily.  "I do it for a living, like a retard."

Both the Special Olympics and The Arc, an advocacy group for those with mental disabilities, have issued press released condemning Aniston's statements.

Jennifer Aniston appeared on the Howard Stern Show in 1989 as a "Nutrisystem Success Story".  Kelly Ripa is a personal friend of Howard Stern whose husband, Mark Consuelos, acted as minister at Howard Stern's wedding to Beth Ostrosky.  Regis Philbin lives in Howard Stern's luxury apartment building.
