The recent Jennie Garth weight loss story is turning heads as the 40-year-old actress has shed 30lbs from her frame and successfully kept it off. She recently revealed her diet and exercise secrets for doing so to Health.
A report on Jan. 3 from Hollywood Life lists out Garth's tips and tricks for how she got the weight off. It involved cleaner eating along with exercise five days per week. Her workouts of choice include plyometrics, kickboxing and hiking with her dog.
What are Jennie's mental tricks to stay with workouts? She puts on her exercise clothes first thing, so she'll be ready to go after doing other chores, such as dropping the kids at school. She also uses a lot of mental motivation such as thinking of what the workouts will do to create positive change in her life. She also suggests bringing a friend for workouts. One example is her dog, who Jennie admits can also use the exercise.
In terms of dieting, Jennie says to stay away from "fad diets," because the weight comes right back. She does her own thing and shared her "173-calorie breakfast" with Health. It includes Greek yogurt along with either slivered almonds or whole oats. As for dinner, she loves a broiled salmon with balsamic onion recipe which is topped by a special sauce. It consists of red onions sauteed in coconut or almond oil with balsamic vinegar.
Jennie Garth rose to fame in her television role on FOX's "Beverly Hills, 90210" as Kelly Taylor. She also played Valerie Tyler on the sitcom "What I Like About You" from 2002 through 2006, which co-starred Amanda Bynes. Garth also starred on multiple TV movies over the years and returned for 20 episodes of the 2008 reboot of "90210." Her most recent TV movie was "The Eleventh Victim" last year.
