Actress Jennie Garth, who lost 30 pounds last year, says maintaining the weight loss is a daily struggle.
"Maintenance is definitely challenging," Garth told People. "It's something you have to do daily. You have to remind yourself what your priorities are and remind yourself about staying healthy and living a healthy life."
Jennie dramatically overhauled her diet and began working out daily after splitting from husband Peter Facinelli in March 2012 and turning 40 the following month. The milestone birthday, coupled with the break-up of her 11-year marriage, gave her the wake-up call she needed to take control of her health.
Garth shed 30 pounds in six months by following a portion-controlled, gluten-free diet and exercising daily — lifestyle changes she continues to stick to.
"Every day, I try to schedule something in, whether it's hiking with my dog or jogging or going to the gym," says the mom of three daughters. "Those are the things I'm focused on right now."
