Talent!
Talent!
Jennette McCurdy

Former co-star of nickelodeon’s Sam & Cat, Jennette McCurdy, has entered the producer life. The beautiful and talented actress is most known her role as Sam from the hit TV show iCarly, before the character had a spin off show of her own. iCarly was a show about three close friends and occasionally some of their other acquaintances, putting on a web show just for fun. After the show aired its last episode November of 2012, McCurdy had a TV spin off that discontinued after only airing for a year.
This unfortunate event didn’t shake McCurdy at all. She currently has her own web series in which she writes and stars in called, “What’s Next For Sarah?” The show’s main character, Sarah, is a simply McCurdy playing the role of herself. With her show she uses her creative talents in order to take her fans through the life of an actress in her situation.
Thinking about the concept, “a show about a star after their show is cancelled,” it sounds like MTV reality TV material, but the web series is probably more real than any reality TV show that you’ll find airing today. In the show, McCurdy isn’t afraid to drop big names or dis other shows. For instance, instead of Pretty Little Liars, a character says she was beginning to like “Pretty Little H@#bags” more. Then when someone recognizes Sarah from one of her shows he mistakes it for “the one with like the wizards and stuff,” which is obviously Wizards of Waverly Place. McCurdy cleverly mentions her appreciation for Rihanna’s looks through complimenting her friend; doesn’t show any disrespect to, but uses Dakota Fanning to indicate her annoyance with overly used actresses leaving her without the role; and she dishes Nicki Minaj’s interesting hair choice when selecting a hair style that would suit her.
In her the series McCurdy gives her bias on the entertainment business and gives a window into her personal life. The show seems like it will be successful because of McCurdy’s own talent as well as her fan base. Though it has been getting some bad publicity because of its character Gloriana that is obviously based on Ariana Grande, the depiction is still honest and how McCurdy sees her. The acting is very much Web TV and the series has four episodes, so far. You can find a link to the show below and like McCurdy on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/jennettemccurdy
