Jenna Dewan Tatum said a vegan diet and daily workouts are responsible for her rapid 33 pound weight loss, Celebrity Health Fitness reported.
"The second I found out I was pregnant, I called [my trainer] Jen Johnson," Dewan Tatum told Us. "We found areas we wanted to target: arms and legs. Working out kept me sane. I would feel a burst of energy and all my hormones would regulate."
Jenna lost 33 pounds just seven weeks after giving birth to daughter Everly in June 2013. Dewan Tatum, who has been a vegetarian since age 13, made a healthy diet a top priority during her pregnancy.
I think a lot of women find out they're pregnant and are like, 'Let's go crazy and eat ice cream every day!
To me, it was, 'I'm growing a human being, and I want to give this little soul the best nutrition I can.'"
Jenna's daily vegan diet includes lots of fresh vegetables, oatmeal, green salads with chopped-up veggie burger and vegan enchiladas. Dewan and other celebrities have praised the weight loss and anti-aging health benefits of a plant-based diet.
The age-defying effects of vegan and vegetarian diets are no surprise to Dr. David Katz, director of Yale University's Prevention Research Center.

Dr. Neal Barnard agrees. "Studies suggest that free radicals [toxic molecules that form in the body] contribute to aging," Barnard wrote in his book, the 21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart. "A vegan diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, is full of antioxidants which help protect the body from damage by free radicals."

Jenna Dewan also works out for 90 minutes, four days a week, with her trainer, and does cardio dance workouts, hiking and strength-training on her own. Dewan Tatum, a lifelong fitness fanatic, incorporates her daughter into her daily exercise routine.
"When I'm rocking Everly to sleep, I do lunges across the nursery, squats or calf raises," Jenna said. "Suddenly 45 minutes have gone by, she's asleep and I got a little workout!"
Dewan Tatum said the secret to her fast post-baby weight loss was staying active and watching her diet while pregnant. "I stayed in shape [throughout my pregnancy]," she said. "I was working out almost every single day or walking or hiking."
Jenna says her husband, actor Channing Tatum, is an amazing partner and father. "Channing's like a big kid," she said. "He plays with her, and she laughs harder and smiles bigger than she does with anyone."
