ABC News reported Wednesday that Jenessa Simons, a 21 year old Utah woman who posted a photo to Facebook reaching out to find her biological parents, has apparently been reunited with her birth mother.
Jenessa posted a picture with a little bit of information: she was born at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo on Nov. 17, 1991. Her parents were both 16, and her birth name is Whitney.
With that, she asked her friends to share the photo to find her birth parents. Her photo was shared over 124,000 times, when one woman recognized the information and put Simons in touch with her birth mother.
“She did send me a message on Facebook and said, ‘I think I’m your birth mother. I can’t believe it’s you. I’ve waited all this time’,” Simons said. She also said that she was unsure at first if the woman could be her mother, but the woman confirmed she was born by cesarean section, showed Jenessa pictures of her as a baby, and was able to give a little bit of information about her birth father.
She posted on her facebook page:
Everyone I am happy to announce that I found my birth mother :D Thank you so much for everything you all have done for me, I have been on the news, and done interviews, and because of all of you, I have found my birth family :D THank you all SO SO much
Simons said at the very least she had hoped to get in touch with her birth parents to thank them for putting her up for adoption. She was raised by a loving family in Alpine.
She has stated that she would like to meet her birth mother in person very soon, and get to know her a little better.
