The Web has left a trail of remarkable local North Farmington High School alum that is set to include Jena Irene Asciutto. Asciutto, 17 is very close to capturing American Idol’s top singing award if she proves to be victorious in the next two weeks! While she certainly has a career ahead of her, just exactly who might she be following?
Most notably is Pam “Mindy” Dawber, Class of ’68, who soared to television stardom in the 1970s TV series Mork & Mindy followed by a 1980s stint in My Sister Sam. Dawber, 63 is married to actor Mark Harmon. From Elizabeth Berkley, Class of ’90, best known for her role as Jesse Spano in TV’s Saved By the Bell to actor James Wolk, The Crazy Ones, Class of ‘03 and Sun Microsystems co-founder Bill Joy, Class of ’71, Asciutto is on her way to the legendary North Farmington High School Wall of Fame, a tribute to these and several more who left a popular societal impact.
Her stardom has been months even years in the making and her home town, Farmington Hills, a suburban bedroom community approximately 25 miles northwest of downtown Detroit, is preparing a parade on Saturday, May 10th, in her honor. “A hero’s welcome,” says the Fox Network show that just today was renewed for its 14th season!
The chatter inside the high school is that North churns out many stars, but the stars know better. They churn out themselves.
