Jen and Carly suffer heartbreaks: Days weekly recap 2/4/11

Last week on Days, Carly and Jennifer snuck into the prison to steal the dead patients’ medical records. Carly escaped with Jennifer promising she’d be right behind her. Jennifer made a call and turned to discover Lee had caught her. Jennifer tried to tell Lee that she wouldn’t say a word and wanted to help, but Lee strapped her down to the operating table. She called Dr. Walters and said she’d have a heart for him within the hour as Jennifer begged for her life. Carly found Hope in the woods and realized Bo was about to be shot by Detective Bart. Carly made a noise and Bo punched Bart. The Salem police arrived and arrested Bo.

Bo, Carly and Hope were taken to the police station. Carly told Abe there was proof that something illegal was happening at the prison and Bo and Hope knew about it. Carly said Jennifer had been right behind her and should have the proof. Abe said no one had been able to reach Jennifer. Carly called Daniel from the police station. Daniel told Carly he couldn’t talk because he was about to assist in a heart transplant. Carly explained that the warden was trafficking human organs. Daniel hung up just as Ben walked in with a heart in a cooler. Daniel threw Ben against the wall and asked where he’d gotten the heart. Ben said his patient was going to die if she didn’t receive the heart, and Daniel asked, “What about the patient who’s already died?”

Meanwhile, Melanie went to the prison and found Jennifer hooked up to machines… sans heart. She called Daniel and said the heart he had was Jennifer’s. Daniel rushed to the hospital where he and Melanie performed a heart transplant. They nearly lost Jennifer, but were able to save her. As soon as she was stable, Jennifer was rushed to the hospital. Daniel and Melanie congratulated each other.

At the police station, Jane said she’d apprehended Bo with Detective Bart Stevens. Bo said Jane had held him prisoner but because he was blindfolded, he didn’t know where he was. Abe got off the phone with Daniel and said that it appeared people were trafficking human organs from the prison. Hope realized the women had died so their organs could be sold. Realizing she was busted, Jane punched the detective in the stomach and held a gun up to Hope’s head. Hope elbowed Jane, causing the gun to go off. As Jane was cuffed and led from the room, Bo asked if Hope was all right. Carly rushed into the room to make sure Bo hadn’t been shot just in time for her to hear Bo tell Hope that hell was living without her.

Hope thanked Carly for risking her life for her family and for taking care of Ciara while Hope was in prison. Carly said she did what anyone would’ve done and that Hope, Bo and Ciara were a family. Carly broke the news to Hope that Jennifer had been a victim of Lee and Jane, but that Daniel was performing surgery on her. Hope said a prayer and told Carly how much she loved Jennifer. Carly and Hope hugged and cried together.

Carly found Bo and asked if they could talk. She said that she and Hope had talked and she thought she finally saw the real Hope… the loving wife who wasn’t angry or drugged out on pills. Carly realized that, while her time with Bo had been special, she knew he wouldn’t ever be able to give her his whole heart because someone already had it. Bo cried and told Carly that he did love her… but she was right. Carly and Bo agreed to never regret their time together. Carly thanked Bo for the memories.

Maggie rushed to the hospital after hearing about what happened to Jennifer. Daniel assured her the prognosis was good, but there was a slight chance Jennifer’s body would reject her heart… even though it was her own. Hysterical, Maggie let herself be comforted by Victor. She went in to visit Jennifer and encouraged her to wake up. Doug and Julie came to the hospital to talk to Jennifer, too.

Nathan approached Melanie at the hospital and congratulated her on her part in saving Jennifer’s life. He asked her why she hadn’t returned his calls and asked if she wanted to talk about the baby. Melanie said she wasn’t comfortable talking to Nathan about it. He tried to get her to meet with him later, but she declined. Later, Melanie told Maggie Nathan said he still wanted to be with her even though she was pregnant with Phillip’s baby. Maggie encouraged Melanie to make sure she knew what she wanted this time. Melanie said she would… and that she didn’t know yet.

The doorbell of the DiMera mansion rang and Nicole opened it to find her sister, Taylor, and a police officer. The cop said Taylor had been accused of stealing a wallet and said she knew Nicole. Taylor swore it was a misunderstanding and Nicole let her in. Taylor asked if she’d gotten her letter. Nicole said she had, but wasn’t sure was Taylor was doing there. Taylor said she missed Nicole and wanted to be close again. Nicole thought it was more than that. Taylor confessed that she’d fallen on hard times financially and wanted to stay with Nicole at the mansion for a little while until she could get back on her feet. Nicole explained that she wasn’t sure how EJ would feel about it but wasn’t in a position to ask him. She suggested Taylor go visit their mother. Taylor said she wouldn’t bother Nicole again.

Later, Nicole found Taylor at the Brady Pub and apologized for treating her the way she did. Nicole explained that she didn’t blame Taylor for their awful childhood, it was just difficult because she and her older brother were abused by their father while Taylor got a pass. Nicole explained they’d never be able to bond the way normal sisters did, but she knew she was rotten to Taylor and she felt bad. Nicole gave Taylor some money and told her to stay at the Motel 12 and take a bus the next day. Taylor said she didn’t want the money, but after Nicole left she admitted she needed it. Abe walked into the pub and was surprised to see Taylor there. Taylor said she was on her way out of town, but Abe said the last bus of the night had left already. He insisted Taylor come home with him and stay with him and Lexi.

Kate stopped by Maggie’s to see Chloe, who was not thrilled to see her. Kate claimed they were on the same team now that Chloe had given birth to her grandson. Chloe said she would never trust Kate, but Kate insisted she wanted to help. She suggested Chloe take Parker to the Kiriakis mansion for a few days to spend time with Phillip. Maggie and Victor arrived and Maggie wanted to know what Kate was doing there. Maggie suggested Chloe feed Parker, but Chloe slumped off to bed. Maggie followed her with the baby.

“She wasn’t even capable of feeding her own child,” Kate said to Victor. “Isn’t that great?” After Maggie made Kate leave, Kate remarked that Parker would be happy being raised by Melanie and Phillip.

Sami told Daniel that Rafe had regained consciousness and spoken to her. Daniel encouraged Sami and told her that was a good sign. Meanwhile, EJ and Stefano couldn’t believe their good fortune and agreed that Rafe getting into a car accident with possible memory loss was the best thing that could’ve happened to them. Stefano introduced EJ to Fake Rafe and EJ couldn’t believe the resemblance.

Rafe heard about the drug trafficking incident and got out of bed to ask Nathan what had happened. Nathan admitted that Hope had contacted him and it appeared Dr. Walters was involved. As Rafe grilled Nathan, Stefano overheard. He made a call to one of the cops on his payroll, who quickly informed Jane that if she busted Stefano for his involvement, she’d be dead. Jane quickly changed her story and said she was only working for Dr. Walters. Stefano told EJ it was time to make the switch.

At the DiMera mansion, EJ and Stefano briefly quizzed Fake Rafe on Rafe and Sami’s history and encouraged him to use the accident as an excuse if his memories were fuzzy. While Rafe was unconscious, Stefano and EJ snuck him out of the hospital and replaced him with Fake Rafe.  Fake Rafe was overjoyed to see Sami and instantly groped her and made jokes about sex. Sami was grateful that Rafe seemed to be feeling better. Fake Rafe and Johnny were released from the hospital on the same day, which happened to be Sydney’s birthday, so Sami planned a party. Meanwhile, Rafe woke up and found himself locked up in the basement of the DiMera mansion. EJ and Stefano smiled and welcomed him to his “worst nightmare.”

Rafe remarked that EJ couldn’t even keep a promise to God. EJ said he’d made no promise regarding Rafe and Samantha had already been dealt with. Rafe asked if they planned to kill him and how they intended to explain to Sami that he was gone, but Stefano and EJ just taunted him about his accommodations. Stefano and EJ went upstairs, where they were surprised by Chad’s visit. EJ was rude to Chad, who said he wouldn’t bother them again and left. Stefano chuckled that each of his kids had a streak of their mother in them. EJ wondered if Fake Rafe would be able to pull it off, saying that a man’s signature was in his kiss. Chad went to the hospital where he and Lexi talked. Chad said it seemed like Stefano was in a hurry to get rid of him, which made Lexi suspicious.

Sami presented Fake Rafe with a shirt bearing the picture of the dogs playing poker they’d fought over in the townhouse. Fake Rafe was obviously confused, but blamed it on his concussion. Sami expressed her guilt over the way he was feeling. Rafe said he remembered the important things, like Sydney’s upcoming birthday and the fact that Johnny was about to be released. He said he just needed time to play catch up and pulled Sami in for a kiss.

The next day, Gabi and Will decorated Sami and Rafe’s apartment for Johnny’s homecoming and Sydney’s birthday. Gabi joked that maybe Rafe would want a banner too, but Will said he was sure Rafe knew how glad they’d be to have him home. Gabi said she was scared when she heard about the accident, especially after what happened to Arianna. She said Rafe’s homecoming made her feel like it was her birthday, too. Will kissed her.

Fake Rafe, Sami and Johnny arrived home from the hospital. Will enveloped Johnny in a giant hug as Fake Rafe looked around. Sami noticed Rafe wasn’t wearing the key to the safe house she’d given him. Confused, Fake Rafe said it must’ve fallen off at the hospital. EJ and Nicole arrived with Sydney and presents. Sami greeted them cordially. Nicole handed Sami a gift, explaining that she’d taken Sydney to get her pictures taken and had gotten copies for Sami. Sami flipped out on Nicole, reminding her that she was Sydney’s mother. Fake Rafe encouraged her to calm down, and Sami apologized. She said she would learn to adjust.

Sami realized she’d forgotten to pick up Sydney’s cake. She tried to explain to EJ where the bakery was, but EJ said Rafe knew where it was and they could go together. Sami was shocked that EJ would suggest it, but he said he was making more of an effort. Once they were alone, Fake Rafe asked EJ about the key. EJ reminded Fake Rafe that if he was confused about anything, to blame the accident. Meanwhile, the real Rafe realized it was Sydney’s birthday and the day Johnny got to go home. He silently wished them well and prayed that Sami knew he would always love her.
