Jelly Belly beer flavor: Draft beer jelly bean, hops and yeast flavors included

A Jelly Belly beer flavor is arriving in the form of a sugary jelly bean near you, and it comes complete with hops and yeast nuances included. Although there are many strange and just plain gross Jelly Belly flavors out there for people’s different taste buds, the draft beer flavored bean might actually be a treat for some beer lovers especially. KING5 News provides the details on this sugary morsel that company makers tried to make as authentic to the natural taste of beer as possible this Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014.

The Jelly Belly beer flavor is only the latest addition to a vast repertoire of Jelly Belly bean options, with this particular piece said to taste not unlike a Hefeweizen ale, as stated on the Jelly Belly website. This was no small process either, as the popular company said that the development of their special draft beer flavor didn’t just take weeks or months, but years to get just right for their customers. And yes, that testing included using hops and yeast flavors, natural components of actual draft beers people enjoy drinking every day.

"First, we tried to work on matching the hops. Then we worked on the yeast flavor," said Ambrose Lee, Jelly Belly's research and development manager, in a video on the company's website.

Younger Jelly Belly beer flavor aficionados have no need to worry, however, as there is no alcohol to be found within these beans. The company hopes that their latest recipe will be a big hit among the public, and have even gone so far as to encourage people to take combinations of different jelly beans in order to create a candy cocktail right in the mouth.

Would you like a Michelada, for instance? The site recommends this special recipe of having two draft beer jelly beans, a Tabasco jelly bean, and a lemon lime jelly bean to bring all the flavors to the forefront for a spicy sour treat balanced with the beer taste.

Are you interested in trying this Jelly Belly beer flavor bean, complete with yeast and hops blended within? It might indeed sound strange at first, but compared to some other options, including those in the Harry Potter collection, it isn’t that odd at all.
