Jeffco Schools families who want to enroll in a school other than their neighborhood school for the 2014-15 school year may submit applications for first-round choice enrollment through Friday, Jan. 24.

The choice enrollment form, which is available on the Jeffco Schools website, should be submitted to the school the student wishes to attend by Jan. 24. If two or more family members wish to choice enroll, a form should be submitted for each student.

The forms, which are also available in Spanish and Russian, ask for the student’s name, address, the school the student is currently attending and the school in which the student would like to choice enroll.

A lottery system is used to process applications from the first round. Waiting lists will also be created if there are more applicants than space available.

Options for choice enrollment in Jeffco include a neighborhood public school other than the one to which the student is assigned, options schools, charter schools, online education and several special programs.

The district offers nine options schools that serve kindergarten through grade 12. Each option school has a specific focus like technical training or experiential learning.

Jeffco’s options schools include Brady Exploration, D’Evelyn Junior/Senior, Dennison Elementary, the Jeffco Open School, Long View, Manning, McLain Community High School, Warren Tech and Jeffco’s 21st Century Virtual Academy.

Parents can also apply to choice enroll their student at one of Jeffco's 15 charter schools, located on 17 campuses throughout the county.

Jeffco Schools also offers several special programs for students with different learning needs. Some programs address the needs of advanced students, some offer technical training, while others address the needs of non-traditional learners or special education students.

The district also offers home school support programs.

To learn more about a school, contact that school’s office for more information or to schedule a visit.

Some schools will hold scheduled interest nights through February.

Families will also have the opportunity to submit choice enrollment forms during the second round, which runs from Feb. 19 through Aug. 29.

Applications from the second round are added to any remaining names from the first-round on a first-come, first-served basis.
