Jeff Probst’s talk show has been snuffed out by CBS (Video)

Jeff Probst had a good season while it lasted. His talk show that made its debut last fall is being canceled by CBS TV Distribution after only one season. E! Online posted the news on Feb. 13 that the long time “Survivor” host has had his torch snuffed out by the network after it failed to get enough ratings to get picked up for a second season.

Always the optimist, Probst didn’t seem to let this news get him down too much. "I'm super bummed but extremely proud," he said in a statement. "The truth is all shows come to an end. Ours just ended a decade sooner than we had hoped."

This comes just two weeks after “The Ricki Lake Show” had announced its cancellation, also after its freshman year. However, Katie Couric and Steve Harvey have both had renewals for a second season for their talk shows that had higher overall ratings.

Jeff Probst is still going strong as he snuffs out other people’s torches on CBS’s “Survivor.” In fact, the new season started yesterday, the same day the talk show cancellation was announced. CBS was working around his schedule on the hit reality show, but now it looks like the dimpled host will have more time to spend with the castaways after all.

Are you bummed that “The Jeff Probst Show” won’t be around for another season?
