TNA's LockDown PPV created a huge buzz throughout the internet on Sunday night. The excitement was largely due to the ending of the world heavyweight title match between Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy. Unfortunately, this exciting match came at a price for Hardy and TNA. According to a March 10 report by FW4Online.com, former TNA champion Jeff Hardy suffered a concussion during the world title match and needed to be helped back to the locker room.
It appears that Hardy suffered the injury when he was powerbombed from the top rope. Fans assumed that Hardy was "selling" the hammer shot he took at the end of the match. However, this was not the case as Jeff was legitimately in a lot of pain and could miss some significant in-ring time depending on the severity of his concussion. If you remember, within the last few years, TNA has been very public about their efforts in addressing concussions and protecting their wrestlers.
As for Bully Ray, TNA wrestling is receiving a great deal of buzz over his heel turn. In fact, most of the feedback that I've received from fans has been supportive of this storyline. Fans are excited with Bully Ray as champion and that he is the president of Aces and 8's. Most TNA fans and critics feel that this has saved the Aces and 8's from falling into irrelevancy. TNA has announced that Bully Ray will appear on this week's episode of Impact Wrestling to further explain his leadership role with Aces and 8's.
